QUINTALUNA

VIBRANT VERDEJO, UNCTUOUS FRESHNESS

QUINTALUNA 2025

The 2025 vintage of Quintaluna embodies the purest, most authentic expression of Segovia’s Verdejo. From Nieva, this village wine comes from vineyards planted using a careful massal selection of old vines. The sandy soils kept phylloxera at bay, preserving some of the oldest vineyards on the Iberian Peninsula. Surrounded by pine forests and shaped by an extreme climate, this landscape keeps centuries of winegrowing heritage alive. A vibrant Verdejo with natural freshness and a deep sense of identity, faithfully reflecting the place it calls home.

An exceptional growing season shaped by spring

The fall of 2024 brought abundant rainfall and mild temperatures, delaying leaf fall. Winter ushered in the first frosts in early December, followed by little rainfall until late January. Temperatures remained low through mid-March, with frequent precipitation and heavy snowfall on March 16. Spring continued with mild temperatures and rainfall, delaying budbreak until early May. Growth was slow but steady. The damp conditions led to isolated outbreaks of downy mildew in some cooler vineyard plots, slightly reducing yields. Flowering took place in mid-June. Summer was almost entirely dry, with mild temperatures. The lack of rainfall kept the grapes in excellent health. Harvest began on September 8 and continued through October 7, proceeding smoothly with virtually no interruptions.

Wine of Nieva

Quintaluna is crafted from grapes grown in selected vineyard plots within the municipality of Nieva. Their soils combine very fine sands with rounded stones from ancient river terraces. The grapes were hand-harvested into 15-kilogram crates, then passed over the sorting table before being gently pressed. The juice fermented with native yeasts in small stainless steel tanks, where the wine remained on its lees for nine months. It was clarified and bottled in the summer of 2026, then aged in bottle for six months before release. Contains sulfites to help preserve the wine.
